Programs & Resources
Heritage Months
Denison acknowledges and supports the rich histories and traditions of our students, faculty, and staff.
Capstone Connections
A series of inclusive events open to all, designed to bring together students, faculty, and staff around shared experiences and interests. These annual gatherings are informal and feature activities like trivia, human bingo, and tabletop discussions, creating opportunities for connection, conversation, and community-building.
Organizational presidents meetings
Student leaders from various campus organizations gather monthly for events focused on leadership development, collaboration, and event planning. Hosted by the Center, these gatherings provide a space to share ideas and strengthen organizational efforts.
Wander and Wonder
The Wander and Wonder series invites students to explore new ideas and perspectives through meaningful conversations. Each session offers participants the chance to meet someone new, discuss the topic of the week, and enjoy a decadent treat. It’s a great way to spark curiosity, broaden understanding, and engage in thoughtful dialogue across difference with fellow campus community members. This is one of many opportunities presented by The Center to promote the personal and professional development of students.
Hair Care Vending Machine
Location: Slayter Hall Student Union, 4th Floor
This vending machine offers a selection of hair care products that may not be readily available in the surrounding area. It’s restocked regularly to provide students with a variety of options.
Paving the way
Paving the Way (PTW) recognizes the varied experiences and needs of students and coordinates efforts to support their success. Open to all students, through high-impact practices, PTW fosters a strong sense of belonging within a small cohort model, guiding students in navigating campus resources and strengthening their transition to and success in college.
Through mentors, connecting to campus resources, and engaging in educational and fun activities, we strive to ease the transition from high school to Denison for PTW participants and pave the way for academic, personal, and professional success.
Outlook
Outlook is a student organization dedicated to fostering awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues. The group provides educational resources, hosts speakers and interactive events, and encourages open dialogue. Outlook also offers support to students who seek it and aims to create an inclusive space where all members of the Denison community can engage and connect.
Ally Education
Denison’s ally education program, Safe Zone, is a program designed to provide resources for helping interested campus community members be informed and supportive peers.
Events
Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
At Denison, the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy commemorates all that he stood for — leadership, courage, progress, and perseverance. Every year, a committee of faculty, staff, and students collaborates to create a series of events that reflect the topics and themes of Dr. King’s teachings.
Welcome Back Block Party
Each fall, the Block Party celebrates various campus groups, featuring food, games, music, and student performances to forge personal connections and provide students with information on available resources. In the spring, the same event occurs on a smaller scale.
First Generation Week
In collaboration with campus offices and student leaders, First Generation Week offers educational sessions, networking opportunities, and social engagements tailored for First Generation students. All are welcome!
