Studio Art is excited to announce the Columbus Creative in Residence (CCIR) for Fall 2022 is Alfredo Weeks, co-founder of FRINGE22 studio a creative strategy and design studio. Alfredo and his wife and business partner, Lara Alsoudani Weeks have been running FRINGE22, a social impact-based design studio for the past 10 years out of Columbus. “I believe their emphasis on listening to ethics, while also working in the commercial industry of design is an important one to share with students,” says Studio Art Chair, Sheilah ReStack.
The CCIR is a new, and important part of the Denison Studio Art curriculum for Studio Art majors. Each fall, a Columbus creative uses the Thursday evening lab time with Junior and Senior majors to share insights on their own path to becoming a creative, meet with students individually, share resources in the Columbus area, and work on a group project. There have been two previous CCIR; Marshall Shorts and Cameron Granger who have each brought new perspectives to students on how they can be a creative in the world. The opportunity to have an expanded vision of how creativity, career, and life can meet is a key goal of this program, as well as providing students with mentors and networking in a city where a significant percentage of graduates end up living, for short or long term.
Alfredo Weeks, from FRINGE22, will be the lead representative for the CCIR in Fall 2022, and he states, “It is always my intention to offer up new opportunities for those that are coming forth and it is one that we have embodied in our own design practice. I am so excited to be able to work with Denison students to offer them my own experiences, advice, and story so that they may trust their own.”
