Studio Art is pleased to announce that Ryland Wharton is teaching an Elements of Design class this Fall 2021 semester, and in Spring 2022. This is part of a larger plan for Studio Art to move towards a greater incorporation of Design within its degree, with further plans forthcoming.
Wharton is an artist, designer, and curator living in Columbus, Ohio. He has designed publications, websites, and software for a variety of art and cultural institutions, including The Columbus Museum of Art, MOCA Cleveland, LAXART, Daniel Gordon, and The Knowlton School of Architecture. His work has been shown at The Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Cambridge, Massachusetts; The Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, Ohio; Soloway, New York; LEAP, Berlin; among others. His writing and projects have appeared in *X-TRA Contemporary Art Journal *and *White Zinfandel*. From 2012–2016, he was the co-director and founder of The Center for Ongoing Research & Projects. Studio Art Chair, Sheilah ReStack, says, “We are really excited to have Ry teaching Design classes. He helps students see that art and design are symbiotic – they are integrally linked in terms of learning and making.”
