Taking advantage of outdoor spaces became the norm on campus, and recently, students gathered at Ebaugh Pond to paint “en plein-air”. As an extension of Studio Art Professor Keith Spencer’s paint curriculum, several outdoor painting sessions were offered to students within and beyond the Studio Art Program to connect with others, experiment in oil paint, and witness subtle shifts in the landscape. Spencer noted that in between moments of hearing students chitter-chatter, there were stretches of complete silence. Besides enjoying each other’s company, a real deep appreciation of the scenery was unfolding. Plans have been made to continue these outdoor paint sessions regularly in the spring semester and beyond.
