Our next Summer Scholar 2021 profile is Hannah Morton!
Hannah worked with Dr. Seth Chin-Parker on a study of imagination and memory. Hannah says about her experiment, “I wanted to explore how imagination helped memory work and what memories from imagining something were recalled the clearest. We found that as the task that we asked participants to imagine got more bizarre and difficult, then they were not able to vividly recall the imagination they had prior.”
Her advisor, Dr. Chin-Parker, praises Hannah for her work, saying “ I really admired Hannah’s willingness to engage with new ideas and take on new challenges. The research Hannah completed forced her to work with theories about memory and imagination that she had not worked with prior…Hannah had a great attitude and produced some really interesting (and methodologically sound) studies.” He also appreciates that the summer research experience gives a chance to “slow down and dig deep” in a research topic.
Hannah’s summer research experience helped her solidify her choice to pursue a PhD in psychology after graduation. Congratulations Hannah!
