The Psychology Department is pleased to announce Anthony Bruno as the winner of the 2020 Irvin S. Wolf Award. The award is given to a graduating senior who has distinguished themselves in the major, demonstrated research excellence, and indicated continuing commitment to the discipline of psychology. The award was established in 1977 to honor the leadership and contributions of Professor Wolf to the department. It is considered one of the department’s highest honors.
Anthony is a psychology major and saxophone performance minor from Youngstown, Ohio. While at Denison, his research focused on topics such as visual perception, time perception, and music perception. He worked with Dr. Nestor Matthews on various sensation and perception projects, and conducted a novel experiment in music perception as a 2019 Summer Science Research Scholar. Anthony and Dr. Matthews published “Global Depth Perception Alters Local Timing Sensitivity” in the journal PLOS One. They also presented a poster at the 2019 meeting of the Vision Sciences Society.
Anthony will begin graduate studies as a PhD student in the Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences (CLPS) Department at Brown University in the fall.
