English major Amber Wardzala ‘21 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Taiwan.
“I applied to the program because language and the ability to write and read gives children the capability to expand their imaginations and their understanding of our multicultural world,” says Wardzala.
“I’ve always believed that teachers have the ability to impact the way children treat others, as well as children’s perspectives of themselves, and I want to have that positive impact on children.”
Wardzala has decided that she will decline the Fulbright offer to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing from Arizona State University.
“Writing is my passion, and I am hoping to hone my craft in graduate school, specifically in short stories and flash fiction pieces. I also want to get experience teaching at a higher level, because I might want to pursue that as a career.”
