Rachel Guldin, with co-authors Ed Madison (University of Oregon) and Melissa Eastman Wantz (Journalistic Learning Initiative), published a new book on using journalistic research and writing techniques to support secondary English language arts instruction. “Language Arts in Action: Engaging Secondary Students with Journalistic Strategies” provides middle and high school teachers with a research-informed model that empowers students through project-based storytelling to identify, research, write, and publish stories about topics that are timely, meaningful, and personal to them.
Guldin’s contribution to “Language Arts in Action” comes from her scholarship and research interest in critical media literacy education. Guldin has continued her work in critical media literacy at Denison by co-hosting/organizing Media Literacy Week 2022 with Lisa Morrison and Stephanie Kays (Denison Libraries) and designing and teaching the courses Ecomedia Literacy and Children & Media.
“Language Arts in Action” is published by Norton Professional Books, an imprint of W.W. Norton.
