Associate Professor Belinda Andrews-Smith has been nominated for American Prize for Opera direction for a Denison production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic light opera, The Pirates of Penzance.
The Denison Singer’s Theatre Workshop is for students who sing and enjoy performing on stage. Once a semester, the students in the class present a fully-staged opera, operetta, or musical theatre production. Class literature ranges from Broadway musicals to light opera. All students are welcome, but solos are chosen by audition.
This was the first Singer’s Theatre Workshop production to take place in the Sharon Martin Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for Performing Arts.
